Our Motivation

Over 8.75 million people live with Type 1 diabetes and counting each year. Managing it is a constant challenge—carb counting errors (30-50%) make insulin dosing unpredictable, and 60% of complications stem from poor meal-insulin timing, causing dangerous highs and lows. Carb miscalculations drive 70% of post-meal spikes, increasing the risk of future dependent complications. The relentless cycle of tracking and correcting leads to diabetes burnout in 80% of patients, adding to the daily struggle of balancing school, work, and life.

Despite advancements in digital health, current diabetes management tools fall short. Carb counting apps lack AI, forcing users to manually estimate food intake, leading to frequent miscalculations in insulin dosing. CGMs track blood sugar but fail to predict future spikes, leaving patients constantly reacting rather than planning ahead. Insulin dosing algorithms do not consider food composition, digestion speed, or metabolic variations, forcing individuals into a never-ending guessing game that heightens stress and increases health risks. Without smart, adaptive systems, diabetes remains an exhausting, high-stakes balancing act.

Our Story

"The journey of Insulocarb began right at home, where we faced the relentless reality of Type 1 diabetes every day. For Harshini and Ashrita, the fear of getting it wrong—miscalculating a meal, mistiming insulin, or waking up to dangerously high or low blood sugar—was constant. For Venkata and his wife, Praveena, as parents, the fear was different but just as overwhelming: watching over a child, wondering if they’d be okay through the night, worrying about every bite of food, and hoping they were doing enough.


At first, we felt this struggle was just ours, but soon we realized that hundreds of children and families were trapped in the same exhausting cycle of uncertainty which we learnt when we were volunteering at Diabetic based organisations like ADA, Diabetic child society and td1findia . That fear fueled our mission—to create a smarter, more intuitive way to manage diabetes, one that removes the guesswork and gives back confidence. With relentless passion and cutting-edge technology, Insulocarb was born—not just as a tool, but we aim to make it a movement to free families from the fear and empower every one with Type 1 diabetes to live boldly and without limits."
